To help people affected by the illnesses, advance awareness and fund research

Every year over 1,600 people in the UK and Ireland suffer
from one of the variants of Guillain-Barré syndrome. GBS is an inflammatory
disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks the peripheral nerves,
causing paralysis which usually lasts for several weeks or months, and may
result in permanent disability. It can be devastating for patients, their
families and friends; around 15% suffer lasting disabilities and around 10%
will die.

The Guillain-Barré & Associated Inflammatory
Neuropathies charity (GAIN) exists to help people affected by providing
non-medical information, grants and peer support, and also by facilitating
research and increasing awareness of these conditions. For further information,
