Russell Wiseman - a friend of Social Link
On Friday, 9th November, Russell sadly passed away. He was incredibly brave throughout his brief illness and his focus remained on what could be done for others. Russell wanted to raise money for Social Link, a charity his family have been involved with since it was set up. Every donation will be greatly appreciated by us and each and every one of our members.

WHERE BEING YOU COUNTS
Everybody at Social Link follows the same code – focusing on what individuals can achieve irrespective of ability. Our members come from a diverse range of backgrounds with an equally broad range of abilities, and as a charitable organisation, we want to help them to grow as an individual, learn, make friends and enjoy trying many new and stimulating experiences.

Social Link provides a varied service for adults aged over 18 years in South Buckinghamshire who have a disability, be it physical, mental or Asperger's, but do not meet the Adult Social Care (ASC) eligibility criteria. We aim to help all who, because of their disability, have limited opportunities for social contact and inclusion in their communities.

The Social Link day project is open weekdays from 10am until 4pm at our facility in High Wycombe, and informal drop-in sessions on weekday afternoons. We also host a day project in Aylesbury every Friday as well as evening clubs in Wycombe and Aylesbury, both of which are growing popularity due to their vibrancy.

Our primary aims:
  • To provide a setting in which members can develop a social network and gain support from peers
  • To promote independent living and associated basic skills
  • To support members in the transition to independent adulthood
  • To encourage the integration and involvement of members within their local communities.

We would like to see the size and scope of Social Link increase therefore reaching a larger number of individuals in need of social inclusion and independence skills. We therefore need financial support by way of donations. Your help would be greatly appreciated – just click on DONATE NOW. Alternatively, would you like to host a fundraising event on our behalf?
