Tranmere Rovers in the Community

Charity description

Tranmere Rovers in the Community logo
Tranmere Rovers in the Community was established as a one man team in the late 1980s but has grown ever since, engaging with thousands of people across the Wirral peninsula each year.Working across the four core themes of social inclusion, health, education and sports participation, the community team's work has expanded from coaching in schools to a wide range of projects covering all ages and abilities. We are based at Tranmere Rovers Recreation Centre at Prenton Park, and although we visit many schools and colleges across the Wirral, we also run a large number of our sessions from the Recreation Centre.

The 2015/16 season saw the SWA2 ticket initiative in place at Tranmere Rovers which has allowed thousands of local children to come and watch live football at Prenton Park who wouldn’t have otherwise been able to, helping to build the next generation of Tranmere Rovers supporters.
The scheme was started at the beginning of the season when a number of people bought season tickets in addition to their own which they donated to good causes.
It was taken forward by the Club with donations from individuals via the Supporters Club, which were matched by the Trust and the first team squad. There were also a number of contributions from the local business community. Tranmere Rovers community helped to raise more than £10,000 we’d like to thank everybody who has contributed.
Tickets have been distributed with 20 local organisations, allowing over 2,500 youngsters to spend quality time with the family, friends and carers in a safe and exciting environment.
