Cycling 4300 miles in the TransAm Bike Race
Cycling 4300 miles across the USA in June 2018 to raise funds and awareness for the great work of the Fire Fighters Charity and Wooden Spoon Devon
Donations accepted until 30-12-2018
After a 30 year career in the British Fire Service I have found a love of long distance cycling and hope that I can use this to raise awareness and funds for the great work of 2 charities which mean a lot to me. The Fire Fighters Charity offers a wide range of support, both physical and emotional, to serving and retired fire fighters and their dependants. Events such as the tragic Grenfell Tower fire mean their therapies and respite are much in demand. Wooden Spoon Devon is the children's charity of rugby and supports children's projects across Devon, helping to make a difference to children and young people facing disability and disadvantage.
Brian Murray Adventures - TransAm Bike Race 2018
The TransAm Bike Race is a self supported cycle race from Astoria, Oregon on the Pacific coast to Yorktown, Virginia on the Atlantic coast. It covers 4300 miles across 12 states, taking in the Appalachian mountains, Yellowstone National Park and a crossing of the Mississippi River along the route. In the past it has been completed in less than 18 days, although others have taken more than 50 days to complete the same route. I completed the race in 22 days 8 hours, well ahead of target. I came 10th, although 2 velos were also ahead of me.
