SAFE Africa via Dublin
SAFE Africa is a fantastic charity organised by the AAGBI and WFSA to help raise money for educating anaesthetists in third world countries; money raised goes directly to teaching and not into any hidden back pockets. The aim is to help health providers become independent when helping the five billion people in the world who don't have access to basic surgery and anaesthesia for the simplest of operations. Giving health services in communities the resources to treat simple conditions themselves changes real people’s lives: compound fractures, laparotomy, obstructed labour, cataracts, cleft lips and club feet.
We're bicycling this year from the AAGBI headquarters in London to Dublin via Banbury, Shrewsbury, Llandudno and Holyhead, almost 500km. Do please help, even if it’s only the pennies you’d have used for a coffee; it all adds up.
Help save lives in Africa through safer anaesthesia.
Around the world people are suffering or dying unnecessarily from the lack of safe anaesthesia in surgery, something that is taken for granted in the UK.
The situation is critical in Africa, where millions lack access to safe anaesthesia.
SAFE Africa is the Association of Anaesthetists fundraising campaign aiming to:
- Raise at least £100,000
- Scale-up the delivery of three-day SAFE obstetrics and paediatrics training courses
- Sustainably improve anaesthesia education and care in Africa in the long-term
Each one of these will go on to treat around 1,500 patients each year.
With your support, we can train even more practitioners and improve the safety of thousands of patients in Africa.
