Donations accepted until 15-07-2018
I never thought I'd describe myself as a 'runner' - in fact, 5 years ago, when a colleague first suggested I take up running and enter a 10k race, to raise money for Family Friends, my initial response was "I don't run!" Somehow she managed to convince me and well, it turned out I actually quite liked it!! So, here I am 5 years on and a few 10ks and even more half marathons later, I'm about to embark on my first marathon!
I'm raising money for Family Friends in Windsor and Maidenhead, a small, local charity, very close to my heart, having worked there for 14 years. Through our amazing team of dedicated staff and volunteers, Family Friends provides early help support to children and families facing challenges, such as isolation, bereavement, domestic abuse, separation, illness, anxiety and much more. I’m really passionate about the difference we make to families, having seen this first hand. I’ve been training hard through the winter months, fortunately with the great company of my lovely running buddies. Any amount you can donate would be truly appreciated and will also help keep me motivated, especially on those cold, dark evening runs. Thank you!
My first full marathon - 26.2 miles - eek! Quite a daunting prospect!
As part of my training I have run the Cliveden 10k (bloody hard work, hilly and hundreds of steps!) and will also be running Bramley 20 miler on 11th Feb, as well as Wokingham and Hampton Court Palace half marathons (Feb/March), plus a long weekend of hilly running in Dorset.
